Choosing the ‘green’ route

Several significant developments initiated in agriculture often fail to be highlighted. It is our endeavour to unearth such enterprises. TAJ discovers Shasya Mangalam

Global opportunities are more conspicuous today, than ever before, provided we can utilise them in the right perspective for our best advantage and for a more prosperous future. A pressing need to be a cut above the rest, has made it imperative to create suitable infrastructure that not only brings together entrepreneurs with strong business acumen, but also personnel capable of shouldering responsibilities to the ultimate success. Believing and religiously following each of the abovementioned qualities is Shasya Mangalam, a dynamic entity that began as a construction company and has diversified in the agriculturefarming sector. Shasya Mangalam first came into existence in the year 1995 as a small construction venture initiated by Satish Chahar, a civil engineer by profession. Armed with his foresight, Chahar transformed this company into a dynamic enterprise in less than a decade. Since Shasya Mangalam’s endeavours revolved around the construction business, the company prospered. In fact, some of its works bear testimony of excellence in architecture, finesse and style of workmanship. Though business was going smooth, Chahar felt a burning desire to reach great heights. "I thought about business diversification in 2000. After a detailed study of market trends, I chose the theme of Green Revolution, since I was convinced this is the only way by which I can provide the muchneeded support to Indian farmers and at the same time get maximum returns on my efforts," he confesses. Armed with a dedicated team, the company forayed into agriculture farming and is today a well-diversified company involved in multiple activities. Besides being involved in some of the finest hitech projects, the firm is also involved in Agro- Farming in Madhya Pradesh and Pune. A project at Shivpuri, in the village Muderi, (225 kilometres from Agra) spanning over 425 acres comprises of hi-tech irrigation system that helps in the cultivation of orchids, banana and papaya.
